Get better than Black Friday savings with up to 53% off these gym-quality dumbbells—they're now at their lowest-ever price
Dumbbells are a convenient and easy way to get into weight training—and right now you can pick up a set at Amazon for less than half price
If you want to build strength, add muscle and protect your body from injury, you should start weight training. Unless you want to stump up for a gym membership, I recommend dumbbells because they're easy to use, don't take up too much space and this one piece of equipment opens up dozens of ways to work out.
I've been looking for the best dumbbell deals currently available right now, and Amazon has up to 53% off these gym-quality dumbbells—which is its best price ever.
This pair of 20lb dumbbells have rubber-finished heads that won't scratch floors or other surfaces. Hexagonal shapes also mean they won't roll around. Other weights are available with varying discounts on the 10, 15 and 40lb sets.
Fitvids Premium dumbbells are available in 5lb increments between 10 and 50lb. However, it's just the three lightest weights plus the 40lb set that are reduced in price with varying discounts. They're sold by the pair which makes total sense as you'll need to hold one in each hand for most dumbbell exercises.
I've been looking at the price history of these dumbbells and the current offers are the lowest prices the Fitvid Premium models have ever been.
Which dumbbell weight is best for me?
If you're new to weight training and trying to figure out which dumbbell weight to buy, it's best to start light.
I've been weight training for decades and use a range of dumbbells from 20 to 50lbs. I think 10lb dumbbells are a good starting weight for absolute beginners, while those with some experience or a naturally bigger physique could opt for the 15 or 20lb versions.
Traditionally, bodybuilders used low rep ranges with heavy weights to increase muscle bulk. However, that thinking has changed in recent years because doing higher numbers of reps with lighter weights has proved to be just as effective. Increased rep numbers also mean longer workouts which will burn more calories and can improve your overall fitness too.
Once you've bought a pair of dumbbells you'll need some workouts to try. Have a go at this low-impact dumbbell workout or Arnold Schwarzenegger's signature dumbbell workout.
