I test walking shoes for a living and Hoka's best slip-on shoe is currently 25% off at REI

The Hoka Transport, my favorite slip-on walking shoe, spent most of 2023 leading the pack as the best walking shoe my colleagues and I tested.

It has since been supplanted, but it remains one of the top 15 and I always like to flag it when it's on offer, because it's such a good all-rounder.

Speaking of, the men's shoes are discounted by 25% in a subtle beige and blue colorway.

The great thing about the Hoka Transports is that they're really simple to get on and off, and if you have issues with your fine motor skills, they come with the option of a toggle fastening. If you don't like the toggles, you can just replace them with standard laces that come with the shoe.

There's a reasonable amount of stock left in this colorway, with sizes 8-13 still available at REI. However, as with all Hoka shoes they tend to sell out quickly, so it's best to snap them up while you can.

Another great selling point of these shoes is that they can be worn anywhere. They're water resistant (although not fully waterproof) and sturdy enough to take you off-road. They also benefit from a medium level of cushioning and are supportive enough to be worn on concrete or other hard surfaces, and subtle enough to style with your normal clothes.

The Transport weigh a little over 11oz, which also makes them good for all-day wear—there's no point stomping around for extended periods in anything heavier.
