Get the benefits of reformer Pilates at home with this affordable piece of equipment
Pilates sliders are a great way to enhance your workouts
Reformer Pilates seems to be everywhere at the moment, which is a surprise given how intimidating the complicated machines with sliding carriages, cables and springs look.
But reformers offer a fantastic way to build strength, balance, mobility and stability. You don't have to go to an expensive reformer class to reap the benefits, because there's a simple way you can recreate some of the movements at home.
Pilates instructor Alex Horton recently shared a workout that incorporates Pilates sliders to mimic the benefits of Reformer Pilates.
Sliders are an affordable piece of equipment that can seriously enhance your workouts and many are currently on sale for Cyber Monday.
They're also small and compact, so they're easy to store.

How to do Alex Horton's Pilates sliders workout
This is a 20-minute follow-along routine that will challenge the entire body.
The only piece of equipment you'll need is sliders. To use them, simply place them underneath your feet or your hands, place your weight on them, and then complete the movements as directed.
You also might want to roll out your yoga mat for this workout, because a lot of the exercises are completed from a seated or kneeling position. If you don't already have one, take a look at our guide to the best yoga mats.

The benefits of Pilates sliders
There are plenty of of benefits to Pilates sliders, and many are similar to the benefits you'll experience from doing reformer Pilates.
For a start, sliders require you to actively engage your core, whatever position you're in, because you're stopping your hands or feet from sliding out from under you.
They can also help you work on your flexibility, as you lengthen your muscles and joints when moving with the sliders.
Sliders are also a great piece of equipment for anyone who's looking for low-impact movement that won't place stress on your joints.
