Sweaty Betty's new collection with Halle Berry is here, and it's awesome
The martial-arts inspired collab between Halle Berry and Sweaty Betty will get you back to the gym and looking fierce
Sweaty Betty is well-known for making some of the premiere exercise gear on the market. There's a reason they can be seen in yoga studios and gyms all over the world: Sweaty Betty's Power Leggings have even featured top of our guide to the best workout leggings, and its best sports bra, the Sweaty Betty Stamina, has featured in our guides too.
Now SB has teamed up with actress Halle Berry (incidentally, one of our fittest over-50 celebs) to launch a brand new collaboration: a fresh take on SB's edit featuring 22 new pieces of clothing inspired by functional gear worn by boxers and jiu-jitsu wrestlers.
"This collection is designed to help all women to live the life they’ve earned, on their terms.” – @halleberry Halle Berry x Sweaty Betty #therespinedit is out now. Go go go!Shop the link: https://t.co/TUvJSqA0BY pic.twitter.com/o6YDYdWAA8May 18, 2021
Co-designed by Berry and said to be crafted from "high performance fabrics", the collection features common run-through designs of silhouettes, straps and a color palette of blacks, greys and creams. Berry is no stranger to martial arts, having had to train for plenty of action scenes as Storm in the X-Men movies, and the assassin Sofia in John Wick 3, and her experience shines through here in the boxing-inspired gear.
Betty says: I’ve worn the Power Legging for years, so it was an amazing experience to design my own version, named after one of my most iconic roles: Storm. I worked closely with Sweaty Betty’s design team, entirely over Zoom, to make my vision of this collection come to life.
“I wanted to create a collection for my busy lifestyle. I can throw on these pieces, wear them all day, and still look put together.”
As well as the redesigned Power Leggings and high-waist Zero Gravity Legging (which now comes in a new "ultra-lightweight, sweat-wicking fabric" the collection sports jiu-jitsu style rash guards and kickboxing-esque shorts named after some of Berry's other roles, like Sofia from John Wick and Leticia from Monster's Ball. Other staples such as the little black dress and a lightweight parka complete the collection.
The first wave is available now from the Sweaty Betty site, with the second wave set to drop later this year.
